If you are trying to figure out what you can do this summer while staying at our Deer Valley hotel, look no further than the Park Silly Sunday market. Starting June 10, the Park Silly Sunday Market is hitting Main Street in our shady mountain town every Sunday through September 23. This festival is an open-air market that features arts and crafts, different types of music and performing arts, lots of different types of foods and so much more.
What kinds of things go on at the festival?
In just sixteen Sundays, the Park Silly Sunday Market has managed to feature tons of farmers, chefs, musicians, artists and non-profit organizations. With such a diverse line-up you will have a unique experience each week. The best part is the public gets to enjoy every single minute of it. While you’re staying in Park City, you can explore Main Street on a Sunday afternoon and listen to music, see some art and do a variety of arts and crafts. It is a great activity for the entire family.
Our Deer Valley hotel has a full kitchen in most our suites, so guests are welcome to grab some fresh veggies and meats and cook up a storm of local cuisine Sunday night after the market.
What do I need to bring?
The first thing you should know is that most of the vendors do not accept credit cards so make sure you bring sufficient cash so you can take home the items that catch your eye. It is a smart idea to also bring a re-useable bag to hold your purchases and prevent them from getting dropped or smashed. Since the weather in our mountain town is always fluctuating, wear layers and bring sunscreen, for any type of change in the weather. Don’t hesitate to spend some time at the Park Silly Sunday Festival while you are staying in our Deer Valley hotel.

The Chateaux at Silver Lake is excited to announce that Chris Wellmon has been named Executive Chef of The Chateaux. Chef Wellmon’s responsibilities will include Cena Ristorante and Lounge, scheduled to open December 2010 and The Chateaux’s banquet operations. Chef Wellmon has previously worked as the executive Sous Chef for Stein Eriksen Lodge for the past 4 years. Prior to Steins, he worked in Colorado at the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch and The Club at Cordillera.
Chris is a certified draftsman. As a matter of fact, Chris sort of “stumbled” into culinary work. In 1990, after receiving his degree as a draftsman, Chris was struggling to find a position in his field. To make ends meet, he took a job as a dishwasher in a restaurant. His first day of work, one of the prep cooks failed to show up and the head chef asked Chris to step in and help out. He created a clam chowder that was apparently out of this world. From that day forward, his love of cooking began and he hasn’t looked back since.
Chris’s many passions, besides his wife of 11 years, Cherie, include fly-fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. We are thrilled to have Chris and his tireless commitment and creativity join The Chateaux at Silver Lake. Welcome to The Chateaux family, Chef Wellmon!
